mail organizer

the previous owners of our house left a couple random shutters in our backyard. i was probably definitely too excited when i found them.

i've seen so many fun uses for shutters on blogs and pinterest.

i needed to make something to help me stay organized. organization has always been a weak point for me. no lie...

i cleaned, cut, sanded, cleaned again, spray painted and distressed a shutter to help me organize mail/bills.

i'm in love.
and the best part? i have more shutters to make some of the other fantastic things i have found online.

please tell me if you have any other projects or inspiration for the other shutters??

  1. Oh I love shutters I have probably about 8 right now in various stages of projects but I never thought of it as a mail organizer. You are genius! I have been so lucky to find them at Habitat Restore at $2 each. My only finished one is an old pink one that I attached small clay pots with succulents. I have four more almost finished.
Love your blog - new follower here!

  2. So jealous that you came across shutters so easily! I like what you did with it! The black looks good against that wall. I just made some autumn decor out of my shutter. Check it out if you want! craftaphile.blogspot.com

  8. What great ideas!! There are a bunch of shutters nailed to our backyard fence- now I'm wanting to rip them down and do something with them!! We're renting though, so I don't know if the owners would notice.... :)

  9. Great idea! Last fall, I was on the hunt for vinyl shutters and we ended up outfitting our whole house for $77 with the cost of spray paint.

There are some great projects out there with wooden shutters, but yours is the first where I've thought that I need to go visit the ReStore! Thanks for the inspiration, came over from your feature at Serenity Now. :)
