justin and i are so excited about our new kitchen table
we bought a little table and 4 chairs off craigslist. they sat in our garage until we found inspiration.
inspiration found.
the table and chairs were in perfect condition. i would have felt bad if i liked light wood...
i used heirloom white to spray paint the underside of the table and the legs.
the original table measured 30 inches by 48 inches.
we used 3 boards that were 32 inches across to provided more support for the table top and make it easier to nail the board down.
we originally tried to screw the boards down, but we destroyed every screw. instead we nailed it down, which worked perfectly.
we used poplar wood for the top. we wanted something a little smoother than pine, but not too pricey. home depot charges by the foot, which was to our benefit so we didn't have to cut anything.
it took 7 boards to cover the table top and have about an inch overhang.
we stained the table top with minwax's early american. it only took one light coat to get our desired color.
i had to do 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of heirloom white for the chairs. they were a bit of a nightmare, but it all worked out in the end.
the table was very easy to do, if we can do it anyone can!
...trust me.
