fabric coasters.

it is no surprise that we love and use coasters at our house. they are in every room of the house...some might call it overkill.

i actually did get these made before Christmas, woohoo for getting one thing done on my list!

these coasters were my inspiration and i copied her tutorial. mine are a little bit smaller and not as perfectly square. but that's part of the fun.

i used some leftover fabric from an apron i made with my momma.
i love love love this polka dot fabric. got it at joann's.

easy craft if you want something to do this afternoon/night.

dollar store Christmas trees.

time for confession: i picked these styrofoam cones up at the dollar store before halloween. i had visions of making them as candy corn. welp, that didn't happen obviously.

so, i decided to make Christmas trees. my inspiration was the valentine's day wreath i made earlier this year. just cut the circles from off-white felt, fold them, and pin to the cone.

easy peasy, just a little bit time consuming.

cute. but she was lacking a little pizzazz...

so here comes glitter spray.

i got the krylon brand from michaels.

worked like a charm.

you can't really tell the difference in pictures, but there is definitely some sparkle on the tree now.

i didn't have the patience/energy/desire to do the same with the other two.

so i just wrapped them in twine and hot glue.

simple. simple.

it's overflowing

5 minute craft.

i was looking through some of our boxes and found this dollar store picture frame that was missing the glass...and i had the urge to craft...

confession: some of our things are not exactly unpacked, we literally had only 20 boxes, a coffee table and hutch when we moved in our house...it amazes me how much God has blessed us.

anyway...

i stretched and stapled burlap to the back of the frame to make an earring holder.

i used to have one and really like keeping my jewelry in sight so i remember to wear it...

such an easy craft, but i love it and it helps me stay organized.

next step: earring shopping :)

monogrammed envelope pillow.

last week i went a little crazy at the fabric store, their pillow inserts were a pretty good price so i bought 8 (yes, eight) in all different sizes. i was so thankful when i found sallie's tutorial on envelope pillows. her tutorial is a major lifesaver, easy to follow and i won't feel bad when i change my mind and fall in love with new fabrics...

my pillow is 18x18 and i used an off-white muslin. [which is hard to see in the pictures] while the pillow was precious, i felt like she was lacking a little something-something.

so fairly impulsively i searched "monogrammed pillows" on pinterest and found this tutorial. i probably should have read it a little bit closer. she used fabric paint, i didn't realize that until i was almost finished painting with acrylic paint. mine still turned out cute, if i say so myself.

the paint color is somewhere in between those two pictures. it's more like a turquoise and i love it!

now just to figure out what to do with the other pillows...

burlap table runner.

i love fall colors and decorations, especially burlap!! my table was looking a little bit naked so i decided to do a little crafting and make a table runner.

i'm in love.

i am no seamstress, i can barely sew a straight line. (in fact i don't)

i got my burlap at wal-mart for 2 or 3 dollars a yard and barely used any for this project. i hemmed the piece of burlap then folded it over (my burlap was thin) before sewing it shut.

i used red thread to make it contrast. don't do this if your lines won't be straight. i learned this the hard way.

 [confession: just ran to my husband and showed him my spool and had to ask him what "thread" was called....where is my brain?]

but i had a way to conceal these atrocious lines...

muslin ruffles!

super easy project, it took me way too long because i kept taking breaks to watch football.

our runner is 55 inches long (including ruffles) by 23 inches.

got any ideas for the rest of my burlap?

valentine's wreath

after seeing this wreath, i knew i had to try it. i showed restraint and waited until it was a little bit closer to valentine's day.

i used 1/2 yard of felt, heart shaped wreath (found mine at hobby lobby) and whatever pins you have.

i used the same technique at the pom pom necklace and pinned the felt circles directly into the wreath. i'm not going to lie...it's pretty time consuming, but easy work. (does that make sense..?)

the camera doesn't capture all the detail of the wreath, but it is adorable.

i pinned ribbon on the back and used it to tie on our wreath hook. i just put it up to take pictures, its been nasty and rainy here...no need to ruin it :)

pom pom necklace

a couple weeks ago i came across little miss momma's tutorial on making these adorable pom pom necklaces. it has been haunting me. i couldn't wait to make one for myself :)

they are super easy to make and cheap! the most expensive thing i had to buy was more hot glue sticks.
