how am i supposed to get any work done...

please take note of the path of destruction she has made in our living room. also, the kitchen table is approximately 2 feet from this chair, so she is in my face begging me to play with her.

so precious, yet so much work.

arboretum

We took today off to catch up and rest from the weekend, so after we picked Millie up from the kennel (she was out of control excited to see us) we walked around the University of Alabama's Arboretum for the first time. Lots of friends have recommended this as a great place to take a walk, I especially remember Katie telling us about it!

This place is gorgeous, I couldn't believe how pretty it was. Millie loved smelling and running around, while Justin loved talking about the trees, game paths and trying to get me to stop taking pictures. We didn't get to walk around much of the area because we needed to get home, so I could do fun stuff like grocery shopping.

Near the end of the walk, Justin spotted other dogs playing in the water. So being the adventurer he is (and me the EXACT opposite) he decided to get down to the lake and let Millie get in. Literally as soon as she got in the lake, she stopped listening to us and swam in the opposite direction...this should not have surprised me.  After about 5 minutes of us urging her to come back to the shore, she finally got tired and came back. She had the best afternoon and we can't wait to go back.

fall retreat

We, along with the other Crusade staff team, organized our Fall Retreat this weekend. We went to Lake Forest Ranch in Mississippi. It was so beautiful...I can see the Lord best in nature and scenery. Seriously, how amazing is our Lord?

The weekend was so refreshing, even though it was a lot of work! We got to hear from Ryan Akers, director of  Campus Outreach at Samford in Birmingham, AL. It was amazing to hear from him as he spoke about the Kingdom of God--how it differs from the world and how we should be eagerly anticipating His return.

We also had lots of time to spend exploring the property. Justin got to fish--which he LOVES to do. He convinced me to canoe on the lake with him. I ended up really enjoying the canoe (even though I was sore the next day, how sad is that??)

We got some great time hanging out with students and getting to know new ones! All in all, we had a fun and exciting weekend, saw many students grow in their relationship with the Lord and some hear about Him for the first time!!

i hope this turns out.

Last week, I bought this chair at a local thrift store. I got it for $5...woo-hoo! But I am pretty sure the person who donated it used black craft paint, it was peeling and the finish was strange--yes, that is the best description i have :)!

I have resisted posting it on the blog, but decided to do it so I have some accountability to finish it this year. I have sanded it down a little bit and the black paint isn't really going anywhere. So I guess I will be priming and painting lots of coats! Still working on covering the seat.

Hope to finish soon and present her to you!

guess we aren't having cookies?

i just had to share this with yall...

Hubby was craving chocolate chip cookies, so being the good wife I am I agreed to make them this afternoon. About 30 minutes ago I put the butter on the counter to soften. I confess, I sorta got lost in my thoughts and forgot about the cookies (sorry babe!) Then I noticed, I hadn't seen nor heard from Millie. I assume she is napping, so I go to find her. I see her going to town on something....

Oh yes, Millie had somehow pulled the stick of butter off the counter and licked/ate about 3 tablespoons of butter. (Sorry for the crappy picture, couldn't get a good once since I was laughing so hard my body was shaking)

She couldn't stop licking her lips (not sure the correct dog term, but you know...)
I guess she loves butter just like her parents!

Now she is feeling guilty. Or maybe sick to her stomach?
